Our Rhodes Hay is a soft, palatable roughage option suitable for a wide range of horses and ponies. With a tested ESC of 2.7% and starch of 0.5%, this hay has a combined ESC + starch level of just 3.2%, making it a fantastic low-sugar forage choice for horses requiring careful dietary management.
Rhodes Hay is well suited to horses prone to weight gain, laminitis, EMS, insulin dysregulation, PPID, or those needing a lower-energy forage base. It provides valuable fibre to support gut health, chewing time, and overall digestive function, while helping to keep sugar and starch intake low.
As with all forage changes, introduce gradually over 14–21 days and always balance the overall diet with appropriate vitamins, minerals, protein, and salt.
